Irish farming groups have been told that the mid-term review of the common Agricultural Policy is set to go ahead, despite their belief that CAP reform should be deferred until after 2006.

European Commissioner Franz Fischler told them the budget within which the next CAP agreement will operate means the 'cake' will have a similar size, but that more people will need to eat it.
