Morris hears 'deal' allegation
The Morris Tribunal has heard an allegation that gardaí investigating the death of Raphoe cattle dealer Richie Barron, suggested that they do a deal to frame Frank McBrearty Junior for his death.
Mark McConnell, who was arrested twice on suspicion of the murder of Mr Barron alleges that gardaí told him they could do a deal with him if he helped them.
Mr McConnell made a complaint to the gardaí following that offer. Meanwhile in a statement Mr McConnell's solicitor Cathal Quinn alleges he was told by his client that gardaí were now saying they knew that he had nothing to do with the death of Richie Barron and that young Frank McBrearty did the killing.
The Tribunal also heard that the claim has been denied by the gardaí.
