Shortts reduces redundancy numbers

The Shortts aerospace company has decided to reduce the number of redundancies it is seeking at its plant in Belfast.

The company announced plans to lay-off 700 workers in September because of a downturn in demand following last year's attacks on the United States.

However, it is now seeking just 342 redundancies, partially due to an increase in demand. The company did warnmanpower levels will be kept under close review.
