Call centre axing 48 jobs
A Derry call centre which provides support services for technology companies is cutting its workforce by almost 10%, it was announced today.
Stream International which set up in the city seven years ago said it was shedding 48 from its 550 strong workforce.
The company blamed the global economic downturn for the reduction in numbers of employees in management and administrative support.
Stream said it was a difficult decision, and said a voluntary redundancy programme would be put into operation.
