Man's body recovered from River Lee

A man's body has been recovered from the River Lee close to the spot where a car was driven into the water today.

The car was recovered at 3.30am today in the river in Cork City, but there was no sign of its occupant.

A witness who spotted the car being driven towards the water raised the alarm.

Navy divers confirmed the body of a man was taken from the water near Horgan's Quay just after 11am today.
