Key intelligence-gathering report in North to be published
A key report on the future of intelligence-gathering in the North is due to be published today.
It will recommend the police Special Branch share more information and become more publicly accountable.
The author of the report is Dan Crompton, a former Chief Constable in the British Midlands, and a member of her HM Inspectorate of Constabulary.
The North's police board asked him to bring forward an analysis of the practice and future proposals to make special branch more efficient and accountable.
The report will be presented privately to the board this lunchtime with a press conference this afternoon, at which only some of its proposals will be made public.
