Morris Tribunal hears more claims against gardai
The Morris Tribunal established to investigate alleged garda corruption in Donegal has heard claims that two senior gardai allowed a bomb attack to take place despite having advance knowledge.
The claim was contained in a statement given to the internal Carty Inquiry by Sheena McMahon, the wife of former detective Noel McMahon.
In the statement, Ms McMahon said that her husband, Superintendent Kevin Lennon and garda informer Adrienne McGlinchey had information about the 1993 attack in Strabane, Co Tyrone, before it was carried out.
Three people were injured in the explosion.
Ms McMahon said she believed the two gardai had allowed the attack to take place.
Earlier today, the Morris Tribunal heard another claim contained in the Carty report that certain gardai had killed cattle dealer Richie Barron in 1996.
Among the issues under investigation by the tribunal is a claim that gardai attempted to frame members of the McBrearty family in relation to that death.
