Donegal clothing firm axes 50 jobs

A clothing company in Co Donegal has confirmed plans to lay off 50 workers.

Sioen Ltd, which manufactures protective clothing at its Derrybeg industrial estate plant in Gweedore, is to reduce its workforce from 85 to 35.

Sioen blamed increased competition in the clothing manufacturing sector for the downsizing.

The company has been operating in Gweedore since 1980.
