An Irishman has been charged with murder for allegedly throwing another man overboard during a San Francisco Bay party cruise.

Lionel Voilat, a 30-year-old from Switzerland, was thrown over the boat’s railing on Saturday night, prosecutor James Hammer said.

Police said William Monaghan, 27, denied the allegations against him.

He has not entered a plea and is being held in San Francisco on $5m (€5.06m) bail.
