Row on Dáil questioning continues

The row caused by plans to allow the Taoiseach spend less time answering Dáil questioning is continuing.

A number of TD's have critically attacked a deal done between the Labour Party and Fianna Fail, which will mean the Taoiseach won't have to attend the chamber on Thursdays.

Green Party leader Trevor Sergeant says this deal will make the workings of the Dail less relevant to democracy.

"It brings it one step closer to making this place totally irrelevant," said Deputy Sergeant.

Earlier today Fine Gael leader, Enda Kenny, attacked the deal, saying the deal makes a mockery of democracy. "It makes a mockery of this house, it does down the confidence and the trust that the people place in the elected representatives here.

"It gives the Harvey Smith to this chamber, scurrilous piece of political skullduggery that I have seen in years."
