Chinook campaigners meet Britain's defence chief
Britain's Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon will today meet campaigners fighting to clear the names of two pilots involved in the 1994 Chinook helicopter crash.
Four crew members and 25 members of Northern Ireland's intelligence community were killed when the RAF aircraft, bound for Fort George near Inverness, crashed on the Mull of Kintyre in June 1994.
A fatal accident inquiry was unable to determine the cause of the crash but Britain's Ministry of Defence blamed the pilots.
Campaigners will ask the defence secretary to set aside the verdict of gross negligence against the aircrew, or order a new inquiry into the crash.
