Govt says GAA funding not linked to Euro 2008
The Government has insisted the future grants to the GAA will not be linked to the opening of Croke Park for use in the European Championships in 2008.
Speaking after a meeting with GAA president Sean McCague, Sports Minister John O'Donoghue said there are no preconditions attacked to funding for the GAA.
However, at a meeting with Mr O'Donoghue, the Taoiseach and the Minister for Finance, GAA president Sean McCague was told that the organisation will have to reapply for money promised to it after it agreed to support the Stadium Ireland project.
