A man accused of murdering his lover has described the victim as the "love of my life" and says he prays to the dead man each night.

When he took the stand in the Central Criminal Court today Mr Martin Merrigan told the jury he had a temporary loss of control when he stabbed Mark Egan in the neck with a screwdriver in their Dublin flat.
