Rowdy scenes in Dail today

There have been rowdy scenes in the Dail this morning over newspaper reports that the speaking time of the Taoiseach is to be cut back as part of a deal with the Labour party.

The reports said that the Taoiseach is to spend less time talking in the Dail, while the Labour party is to be given more speaking time in return.

Green party leader, Trevor Sergeant, said that the Taoiseach is trying to remove accountability from the Dail and wants a one-and-a-half-day week.

"How does that go down with the workers in this country? He wants a one-and-a-half-day week so he can open pubs in Warsaw and Hungary and open Irish pubs all around Europe," he said.
