Sixteen injured in Co Louth accident

Sixteen people were injured in a road accident in Co Louth yesterday evening.

Sixteen people were injured in a road accident in Co Louth yesterday evening.

The accident occurred at Carrickarnon, on the main Dublin to Belfast Road shortly after 5pm.

A Lorry was in a collision with several cars.

Most of the injured people were taken to Daisyhill Hospital in Newry and it is not believed any are in a serious condition.

The driver of the Lorry, a man in in his thirties and from Co Armagh, was arrested at the scene.

He was later released and is due to appear at Dundalk District Court on 13 November 2002 to be charged in connection with the incident.
