Tanaiste promises fair redundancy package
Union leaders say they have been assured of a generous redundancy deal for workers who are to lose their jobs with the closure of the IFI plants.
It has also emerged that a liquidator is to be appointed to the company within the next two weeks and that a decision to sell off part of the company as a going concern may be taken then.
SIPTU's Noel Dowling says IFI workers can expect a fair severance package.
"The Tanaiste gave us assurances that the shareholders were prepared to give significant additional funding over and above what the liquidator will have available to him, to pay for what she describes as a fair and decent redundancy package, and that money will be made available to the liquidator."
