O'Flynn elected SIPTU general secretary

Joe O'Flynn has been elected as the new general secretary of the SIPTU trade union.

Joe O'Flynn has been elected as the new general secretary of the SIPTU trade union.

Mr O'Flynn was narrowly elected to the position ahead of Noel Dowling in a ballot of all the union's members.

The 44-year-old Corkman's appointment will be formally endorsed by the SIPTU national executive council today.
