The Labour Party has renewed its call for the resignation of Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy following revelations that €1.7bn may be cut from the public finances next year.

Party spokesman Brendan Howlin said the cuts will leave the poorest members of society paying for the Minister’s mistakes.
