British Ambassador responds to SF protest
The British Ambassador to Ireland, Ivor Roberts, has insisted that last week’s controversial police raid on Sinn Fein’s Stormont offices was not politically motivated.
Yesterday, Sinn Fein delivered a letter to Mr Roberts to protest against the raid and, in his response today, the British Ambassador said his government is fully committed to implementing the Good Friday Agreement.
However, he accused Sinn Fein of threatening the future of this agreement by allegedly breaking its commitment to exclusively democratic and peaceful means.
He also urged the republican party to use its influence to secure IRA disbandment.
