Equality group says Govt is misleading public

A group involved in the “No to Nice” campaign is accusing the Government of misleading the public by claiming that jobs will be at risk in the event of the Treaty being rejected.

Equal In Europe said the reality is that companies invest here because of our low tax rates, good workers and access to Europe.

Spokesperson, Linda McEvoy described the claims are pure scare mongering.

“We heard a lot of personal opinion from politicians and also other leading figures in Ireland that investment and jobs would be damaged if we vote "No" to Nice. Now the treaty is a political treaty, it doesn't impact on economics whatsoever," she said.
