A man was arrested today after eight police officers came under gun attack in Belfast during a fresh outbreak of violence in the city.

A man was arrested today after eight police officers came under gun attack in Belfast during a fresh outbreak of violence in the city.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said loyalist gunmen opened fire on three police vehicles last night.
