Reid demands permanent end to violence

Northern Secretary John Reid is demanding a statement from republicans saying they’ve ended all violence permanently.

Dr Reid was speaking after news that senior Sinn Féin member Denis Donaldson will appear in court tomorrow, charged with possession of information likely to be of use to terrorists. Mr Donaldson will face five charges in court tomorrow with the possibility that others will also face charges after Friday's raids on homes in North and West Belfast.
