Harney opposes tax on child benefit

The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has expressed her opposition to any plans to introduce a tax on children’s allowance.

Ms Harney said she would not support any tax increases in the upcoming budget and would prefer to see a severe reduction in public spending.
