The Parents for Justice group is due to meet officials from the Dunne Inquiry today to discuss its ongoing investigation into the unauthorised removal of organs from dead babies.

The support group believes progress in the inquiry has been inadequate and spokesperson Fionnuala O’Reilly said many are concerned about rumours that certain people are not co-operating with the inquiry because of its non-statutory format.

“We’ll be looking for confirmation from the Dunne Inquiry that there has been full co-operation by hospitals, by individual coroners, doctors, pathologists; that there has been engagement by individuals in the inquiry process,” she said.

“That’s vital to us at this point because rumours are abounding of non-co-operation by health professionals and nothing seems to be done to dispel these rumours.”
