Sinn Féin defend leader
A leading member of Sinn Féin has described the accusation of party leader Gerry Adams being the leader of the IRA in the 70s as a slur.
The party’s vice president, Pat Doherty, said the peace process, with the help of people like Gerry Adams, would not have come this far if the accusation was true.
The political representative for West Tyrone said the allegation will not damage the representation of Mr Adams.
"All will be revealed in the assembly elections," said Mr Doherty.
Mr Ed Maloney has made the accusation in his book about the IRA.
