German walks free despite abuse sentencing
A German businessman has been sentenced to three and a half years for sexually abusing a six-year-old Co Offaly girl in 1985.
However, Andreas Lewicki has walked free from Ulm regional court in Germany as he had already served six years in custody in the Czech Republic.
The case concerned a now 23-year-old Tullamore woman who was shown on video tape with Lewicki while he was a company boss here during the 1980s.
The case has entered the legal history books as the first Irish sex abuse case to be heard outside the jurisdiction.
