Communications Minister Dermot Ahern, who carried out inquiries about Ray Burke on behalf of the Taoiseach in 1997, has said he did the job he was asked to do.

Minister Ahern was replying to questions about Mr Burke's previous role in government as Minister for Justice, as well as holding the Communications and Foreign Affairs portfolios.
