The Environment Minister Martin Cullen has told a major conference in Dublin that there is no justification, economic or environmental, for the continuation of operations at the Sellafield Nuclear Plant.

However, his opposite number in the North, Dermot Nesbitt, said that although he shares concern about the plant, discussion must be based on fact and not emotion.
