Dublin City University has opened a new €45m research and engineering centre.

The facility houses a number of research projects, including a new computer-based technique to diagnose cancer of the colon.

A DCU spokesperson said the technique eliminates the need for uncomfortable and unpleasant colonoscopy procedures.
