Woman held after alleged abduction attempt
A woman in her 30s has been arrested after she allegedly tried to abduct a newborn baby from a Cork City maternity ward last night.
Security staff foiled the attempted abduction after the alarm sounded at the city's Erinville Maternity Hospital just before 9pm.
The woman allegedly took the infant from a cot and made her way to an exit but a security device on the baby's clothes triggered the alarm and she was stopped by security staff.
The four-day-old baby was unhurt.
