Farmers urged to utilise aid scheme

The Government has urged farmers affected by the recent bad weather to apply for financial help from the Farm Assist aid scheme.

The average rate of payment under this scheme is around €120 per week.

The programme is operated on a confidential basis and does not require farmers to sign on at social welfare offices.

Applications for assistance under the scheme can be made to the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs.
