UUP adjourns, statement expected

The Ulster Unionist Party's 860-strong council has just adjourned its meeting in Belfast.

The council met this morning at 10am to decide whether or not to remain in government with Sinn Féin.

David Trimble's leadership is on the line for this meeting and the power sharing executive is also hanging in the balance. It is thought that a compromise proposal may emerge.

A statement is expected from David Trimble shortly.
