Tanaiste tackles cost cutting debate with IFI
Management at Irish Fertiliser Industries are due to debate cost-cutting proposals with Tanaiste Mary Harney today.
The future of the three IFI plants, in Cork, Arklow and Belfast is now in doubt with 600 jobs under threat.
Unions were last week in discussion with the Tanaiste.
Unions have said that if a business plan to cut costs next year is not accepted, there will be devastating consequences, especially for the 600 workers at IFI.
