The four members of the Irish environmental group chained on the Sellafield visitors' centre have come down peacefully from the three-storey building.

One female and three males have been up on the building since 5am today.

British police have now arrested the four individuals under Section Five of the Public Order Act.

Tim Hourigan, a member of the Green Party and campaigning with Gluaiseacht says that there was good reaction from locals in Cumbria and that there has been huge support from the Irish over the last few hours.

It is now expected that the ground-based protest group will stay close to Sellafield as the nuclear cargo ships come closer.
