The Ulster Unionist Party's executive committee meets this morning in Belfast ahead of next Saturday's crucial meeting of the party's ruling council meets to decide whether to continue sharing power with Sinn Fein.

It will be a valuable opportunity for the UUP leader, David Trimble, to assess the mood at the grass roots. When the 100 or so delegates gather for their regular meeting today, there may be other items on the agenda but the real focus will be on next Saturday's meeting of the ruling Ulster Unionist Council's 800-plus members.
