Irish airlines ignore safety scanner
It’s been revealed that most of the baggage loaded onto Aer Lingus and Ryanair flights at Dublin Airport does not go through x-ray security scans.
Aer Rianta installed new state-of-the-art scanning equipment in the new hall at the airport but it’s up to the airlines whether they want to use it.
Both Irish airlines still use the old hall where no x-ray equipment is in place.
The news has shocked the chambers of commerce of Ireland. Spokesperson for their air transport users council, Ciaran Brennan, says its an unacceptable compromise of passenger safety.
