Dublin, Belfast Lord Mayors to honour Irish war dead

The Lord Mayors of Belfast and Dublin are among a group travelling to Belgium today to honour the thousands of Irish people who died at Messines during the First World War.

The Lord Mayors of Belfast and Dublin are among a group travelling to Belgium today to honour the thousands of Irish people who died at Messines during the First World War.

The pair will visit a peace park in Flanders which was opened in honour of Irish soldiers who fought with the British during the war.

The man who pioneered the peace park is also planning to open an international school for peace studies nearby.
