'First aid key to saving lives at crash scenes'

First aid assistance at the scene of a road traffic accident saves more lives than advanced technology at a later stage, according to research carried out by the Irish Red Cross.

The Irish Red Cross also highlighted that one of the most common causes of road traffic fatalities is a lack of oxygen caused by a blocked airway, which can cause death in four minutes.
