Police in the North are investigating a bomb attack on the car of a Northern Ireland Labour Party councillor on the outskirts of north Belfast this morning.

Mark Langhammer was about to take his children to school this morning when he noticed damage to his car outside his home on the Shore Road in Newtownabbey.

Police said bomb disposal experts removed the remains of what appeared to be an improvised explosive device for examination.

No one was injured in the blast.
