IBEC calls for new traffic management body
The employer’s body, IBEC, is calling on the Minister for Transport to immediately launch a new Dublin Regional Authority to sort out traffic management difficulties.
The organisation says that the recent signage row illustrates the need to establish the new body as a 'one-stop-shop' for solving Dublin’s traffic congestion.
Director of IBEC’s traffic council, Reg McCabe, says that despite rationalisation, there are still too many parties involved.
"There is simply too many agencies involved in the transport sector in Dublin from the point of view of traffic planning, building new infrastructure and of course the whole issue of developing our public transport system as well," he said.
