Rail services disrupted between Galway/Mayo
Rail services between Galway and Mayo will be cancelled this evening because of line safety fears.
Railway engineers expressed their concern about the state of the line and it was subsequently shut down for the evening.
Myles McHugh, Western Business Manager for Iarnród Eireann said it was because of "work that was being carried out in connection to the laying down of the east-west gas pipeline".
He said: "This work is being carried out by non-Iarnród Eireann contractors and there was some serious concern expressed about the state of the track by Iarnród Eireann engineers."
