Ireland’s three main sporting bodies are due to meet Communications Minister Dermot Ahern today to finalise their submissions on the planned implementation of the EU’s ‘Television without Frontiers’ directive.

Under the legislation, the Government can designate events of cultural importance which must be broadcast free of charge on Irish terrestrial television.
