Fine Gael warn more jobs could go

Fine Gael has warned that further jobs will be lost throughout Ireland if the state of the economy continues to deteriorate.

Yesterday, the Rennicks plastics factory in Co Meath announced plans to close due to rising costs, with the loss of 80 jobs.

Fine Gael’s John Bruton said the Government is at fault for mishandling the economy.

"Ireland is losing competitiveness because our inflation rate is so high, costs of producing things here have gone up and that is going to lead to a loss of employment and it is directly traceable to the overheating of the economy," he said.
