Govt expresses outrage at Nigerian death sentence

The Department of Foreign Affairs has expressed outrage at the death sentence handed down to a Nigerian woman who was convicted of adultery.

Thirty-year-old Amina Lawal was sentenced to death by stoning after being convicted by an Islamic court in northern Nigeria.

The Government has told the Nigerian Embassy that the sentence convenes the universal declaration of human rights.
