Efforts to stem violence intensify

Political efforts to stem the rising tide of violence at sectarian flashpoints across Belfast were intensifying today with a number of high-profile meetings following a night of further violence in the city.

Sinn Fein councillors were to accompany residents from the north and east of the city to a meeting with security minister Jane Kennedy this morning to discuss the current disturbances.
