SF delegation due to meet NI minister

A Sinn Féin delegation is due to meet Northern Ireland Office minister Des Browne today to discuss the ongoing violence in Belfast.

Party chairman Mitchel McLaughlin and east Belfast councillor Joe O'Donnell will meet Mr Browne following a week of sectarian rioting which saw 19 police officers injured.

Stormont enterprise minister Reg Empey had earlier invited the North's security minister Jane Kennedy to visit east Belfast after warning that lives will be lost unless the violence ends.

Mr Empey claimed yesterday that CCTV cameras should be installed along the peaceline in east Belfast to prevent violence and accused Sinn Féin of orchestrating attacks on the loyalist Cluan Place as part of a campaign against the force.
