The Minister for Transport, Seamus Brennan, is considering compromise proposals over an archaeological site threatened with destruction.

The National Roads Authority had wanted to complete Dublin’s M50 motorway through a medieval castle in Carrickmines. Dun Laoighre Borough Council is now offering to protect numerous structures including a wall, farmhouse and defence structure.
