Student dies after NI nightclub assault

A 20-year-old student assaulted outside a nightclub in a seaside resort today died from head injuries.

Chris Whitson, a Catholic from Strathmore Park in north Belfast, sustained serious head injuries when he was attacked 10 days ago in a car park outside Kelly’s nightclub in Portrush, Northern Ireland.

Mr Whitson had been at the club celebrating his brother’s birthday with friends. He attended university in Scotland.

Two men have been charged in connection with the attack.
