IFA condemns meat factories over fall in cattle prices

The Irish Farmers Association has condemned meat factories for what it described as a concerted effort to force cattle prices down to uneconomic levels.

IFA national livestock chairman Derek Deane described the "deliberate and unnecessary" action as an attempt by meat plants to line their own pockets. He warned that factory owners will incur the wrath of livestock farmers if they continue to lower prices.
