The Irish Farmers Association has claimed that the European Commission’s proposed reform of the Common Agriculture Policy will take €355m out of the rural Irish economy each year.

IFA chief economist Con Lucey said the real agenda behind Agriculture Commissioner Franz Fischler’s proposed reform is to wind down agriculture.
